Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026 · Meinframe, United Kingdom
This Privacy Policy explains how Meinframe ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use Privy, our Chrome extension and associated website at getprivy.co.uk. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
1. Who We Are
Privy is operated by Meinframe, a UK-based business. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at support@getprivy.co.uk.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following personal data when you use Privy:
- Email address — collected when you create an account, used for authentication and account management.
- Lookup history — a record of which eBay products you have researched using the extension, stored to power your dashboard and enforce usage limits.
- eBay page data — when you visit an eBay product listing, our content script reads publicly visible data from that page (product title, price, images, listing details) solely to perform the analysis. This data is not stored against your profile beyond the lookup record.
- Subscription and billing information — your subscription tier and status are stored in our database. Payment card details are handled exclusively by Stripe and are never stored by us.
- Technical data — basic usage data such as login timestamps and error logs, used to maintain and improve the service.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Privy extension and dashboard
- Authenticate your account and manage your subscription
- Enforce usage limits based on your subscription tier
- Improve the accuracy and performance of the service
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the service you have signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — improving the service, preventing abuse, and maintaining security.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with UK law.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a PostgreSQL-based cloud database). Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or disclosure.
Data may be processed on servers located within the United Kingdom, United States and European Economic Area as part of our cloud infrastructure.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Privy:
- Supabase — database and authentication
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
- Vercel — website and API hosting
Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and data processing agreements in place.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@getprivy.co.uk.
9. Cookies
The Privy website uses only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
10. Chrome Extension Permissions
The Privy Chrome extension requires the following permissions to function:
- Active tab and tabs — to detect which eBay listing you are viewing and refresh the panel when you navigate to a new product.
- Scripting — to inject our content script into eBay pages to read listing data.
- Storage — to store your login state and preferences locally in your browser.
- Side panel — to display the Privy analysis panel alongside the eBay page.
We only access eBay pages you actively visit. We do not monitor your general browsing activity.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via a notice in the extension. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
12. Contact
